Event Overview

Consultants who work through agencies or other firms usually make only 65-70% of what they should be making because the firm takes 30-35% of the revenue, sometimes more.

Wouldn't it be great if that money was going to your bank account instead of theirs?

This in-person workshop will address:

  • How to market yourself as a professional consultant, not a subcontractor
  • How to beef up your business development efforts so clients reach out to you directly
  • What it takes to qualify as a vendor with a client company
  • How to handle the initial contracting steps

Session Leader: PICA's Co-Founder & Chief Advocate, Liz Steblay, has worked in consulting over 20 years, most of those as an independent consultant who always billed directly with her clients, including Fortune 500 companies.  Over the last 10 years, she has advised hundreds of consultants in her leadership role at ProKo Consulting, a collaborative talent agency that represents independent HR consultants.  Leveraging her MBA from the University of Southern California, Liz has become a master at helping self-employed professionals launch and grow their own successful business.  You can follow her on Twitter @Liz4Consultants for tips and news, and subscribe to her blog, Successful Independent Consulting.
