PICA's Leadership Team

Liz Steblay

Founder & Chief Advocate

Liz is a tireless champion for independent consultants, having years of first-hand experience from a variety of angles.

Over the last 20 years Liz has worked in consulting as an independent consultant, an external consultant with a global consulting firm, as a senior member of a boutique firm, and as an internal consultant with two Fortune 500 companies. Prior to founding her first company, Liz was an independent consultant for 13 years working on a variety of projects for Fortune 500 companies. Earlier in her career she was an employee of Intuit, Levi Strauss, and PwC Consulting, specializing in organizational development and leading large-scale change programs. She has a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

In addition to PICA, Liz is the founder and managing officer of ProKo Consulting, a modern talent model that represents top-tier independent consultants with Fortune 1000 clients in a way that is a win/win for everyone. It was because of her experience as an independent consultant, and then interviewing and representing hundreds of consultants for ProKo, that she realized the need for an organization like PICA.

After nearly 25 years in San Francisco, Liz now lives in Reno, NV with her daughter’s two cats, including PICA’s unofficial mascot, Sancho.

Becky Ward

Founder & CFO

Becky is passionate about entrepreneurial businesses and developing business structures in start-up companies.

She has held leading finance positions for entrepreneurial business and brings more than 25 years of accounting and finance experience to PICA. Earlier in her career she held various finance roles at companies including Autodesk, Turner Broadcasting and the Walt Disney Company. She began her career in the Entrepreneurial Services Group at Ernst & Young. In these roles, she has managed strategic planning, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, finance, accounting, information systems and developer relations. She has extensive experience working with small businesses (including self-employed consultants) and helping them grow to become much larger.

Becky is truly the wizard behind the curtain, developing and managing all things finance-related quietly in the background so PICA runs efficiently. Originally from America’s heartland, Becky has lived and worked in more than six US metropolitan areas. She now lives where the weather is pretty much perfect in San Diego, California, with her husband and two rescued beagles. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, experimenting in the kitchen, and volunteering with animal rescue organizations specializing in older animals.

Henry Telfeian

General Counsel

Despite his off-beat sense of humor, Henry is an expert in employment and labor law, having handled contracts, labor disputes, arbitrations and litigation over the last 35 years. Fanatical about paying as little tax as possible, he’s a huge proponent of being self-employed and squirreling money away in retirement accounts to decrease taxable income. In fact, he invented the phrase, "Friends don’t let friends W-2"TM. (Watch our two-minute video for more info.)

Like the other PICA leadership team members, Henry is also an independent professional. In the past, he was employed as Labor Relations Counsel at Kindred Healthcare, was Of Counsel at Keck, Mahin & Cate in San Francisco, and a Partner at McLaughlin & Irvin. He is an alumnus of Brown University and Harvard Law School.

After growing up in Maine and attending school where the winters are often brutal, Henry now splits his time between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. For him, practicing law is a means to an end – he’d much rather be playing golf, watching golf or reading about golf.

Occasionally he finds time for piloting small planes and skiing too.
