Our Values and Beliefs

PICA's Core Values

  • Independence – The right to be self-employed and direct our own work.
  • Entrepreneurship – The ability to run our own businesses, to be paid as a business, and to take advantage of business owner tax deductions and retirement plans.
  • Professionalism – Not all independent workers are the same. PICA members are well educated, ethical, highly experienced, polished and presentable.
  • Strength in Numbers – None of us is as strong as all of us. PICA fosters community and is an advocate for self-employed professionals across the country.

Our Beliefs

At PICA, we believe...

...that small businesses are the backbone of the American economy

...that we have the right to be self employed

...in being paid fairly for the work we do and the results we deliver

...we should be paid on a business-to-business basis, not like temp workers

...names and terms matter and that consultants are not freelancers

...in exceeding client expectations and earning client referrals

...in preserving our valuable business owner tax deductions and retirement saving options

...in America's flexible workforce to drive innovation and efficiency

...in the value of being professional, of keeping our word, of operating with integrity in all that we do
